The Spark Spectrum of Neon.

چکیده
35 kv. as compared to 55 kv. for the arc discharge on an ordinary day. The experiment clearly showed that corona current flow in an atmosphere of high humidity is greatly reduced, and that spark discharges at relatively low voltages are apt to occur. The explanation of this phenomenon very likely is to be found in the reduction of the mobility of negative ions in air of high humidity, although the existence of a thin film of moisture on the electrodes may also play a part. In this connection it may be pointed out that Elster and Geitell have called attention to the fact that the mobility of gas ions in a fog is greatly reduced; also that Tamm2 has found that the mobility of gas ions in air at 100% humidity was approximately 25% of that in dry air. As is well known, with the wires positive with respect to the plate instead of negative, the corona current flow is greatly reduced and spark discharge sets in at a relatively low voltage even on dry days, so that the action of negative wires on wet days was similar to the action of positive wires on dry days, this is very likely due to the fact that humidity reduces the mobility of the negative ions while it leaves the positive ions unaffected.3 1 Ann. TWO PHOTON TRANSITIONS IN THE OPTOGALVANIC SPECTRUM OF NEON
Seventeen two-photon transitions for neon have been observed in the 580- 635 nm spectral region for use in the spectroscopic study of its higher excited levels, which are not accessible by one-photon absorption. To compare the two and one-photon absorption signals originating from the same lower level, an effort was made to record single-photon optogalvanic spectrum in the available wavele...

متن کاملOptimization of Non-volatile Memory Cell and Energy Consumption in Robot Systems by Synthesized Silicon Nanoparticles via Electrical Discharge
In this paper, we propose to optimize manufacturing methods of memory cells by produced silicon nanoparticles via electrical spark discharge of silicon electrodes in water to reduce the energy consumption for low power applications. The pulsed spark discharge with the peak current of 60 A and a duration of a single discharge pulse of 60 µs was used in our experiment. The structure, morphology, ...
متن کاملEXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF THE POPULATION DENSITIES OF LOWEREXCITED STATES OF NEON
Many studies employing various methods have been carried out into the number densities of excited atoms in electrical discharges with inert gases [1,2,3], but the ranges of the discharge current and gas pressure is very limited in them all. In this work, the population densities of 3S, 3s' of neon have been investigated using the atomic absorption method. Since the discharge current and gas...
متن کاملImproved Knock Detection Method Based on New Time-Frequency Analysis In Spark Ignition Turbocharged Engine
Premature combustion that affects outputs, thermal efficiencies and lifetimes of internal combustion engine is called “knock effect”. However knock signal detection based on acoustic sensor is a challenging task due to existing of noise in the same frequency spectrum. Experimental results revealed that vibration signals, generated from knock, has certain frequencies related to vibration resonan...
